System Voltage Low
Definition
The ECM has detected that the system voltage (battery/charging voltage) is below the expected threshold. Normal operating voltage is 13.5–14.5V with the engine running.
Common Causes
- Failing alternator or voltage regulator
- Corroded or loose battery terminals
- Worn serpentine belt (alternator not spinning properly)
- Parasitic electrical drain
- Aging battery unable to hold charge
