Diagnostic Trouble Code
P2002 — Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold — Bank 1
Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold — Bank 1
Definition
The ECM has determined that the diesel particulate filter (DPF) on Bank 1 is not filtering soot efficiently enough to meet emissions standards. The DPF may be clogged, damaged, or the regeneration process is not completing successfully.
Common Causes
- Excessive soot accumulation from short-trip driving
- Failed DPF regeneration due to sensor faults
- Cracked or melted DPF substrate
- Faulty DPF pressure differential sensor
- EGR system malfunction increasing soot production
