Diagnostic Trouble Code
P2463 — Diesel Particulate Filter — Soot Accumulation
Diesel Particulate Filter — Soot Accumulation
Definition
The ECM has detected that soot accumulation in the diesel particulate filter has exceeded the threshold where passive or active regeneration can clear it. The DPF is at risk of becoming permanently damaged if not addressed.
Common Causes
- Excessive short-trip city driving preventing regeneration
- Failed DPF temperature or pressure sensor
- Faulty EGR valve increasing soot production
- Turbocharger issues causing incomplete combustion
- Incorrect engine oil specification accelerating ash buildup
