Carburetor

The main fuel delivery component used on most engines built up to the 1988 model year. Carburetors have several sub-systems that cause a different amount of fuel to be delivered to the engine under different operating conditions. A richer than normal mixture is needed during rapid acceleration and also for about the first two minutes of operation after a cold start.
