Engine Mount

A structural component that secures the engine to the vehicle frame while absorbing vibration and preventing it from transmitting into the passenger compartment. Engine mounts are typically made of rubber bonded to metal brackets, or hydraulic fluid-filled designs on luxury vehicles. Worn mounts cause excessive vibration, clunking during acceleration or braking, and can allow the engine to shift enough to damage other components.
