Exhaust System

A system of components that directs burned gases from the engine to the rear of the vehicle and out into the atmosphere. Typical components include the exhaust manifold (bolted to the engine), exhaust pipes (connecting the exhaust components), and exhaust muffler (reduces noise). All vehicles built since 1988 also have a catalytic converter in the exhaust.
