On-Board Computer

All vehicles built since 1988 are equipped with a computer designed to control the fuel delivery, ignition, and emission control systems. The most important function of the on-board computer is to continually adjust the air-fuel ratio so that the engine runs with maximum efficiency (lowest emissions, maximum fuel economy, maximum power, and smoothest idle).
