Oxides of Nitrogen

NOx

Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) emissions occur when fuels are burned at high temperature. Some of the nitrogen (N2) in the air combines with some of the oxygen (O2) to form nitric oxide (NO). The emissions of NO and NO2 are collectively referred to as NOx. In addition to contributing to ozone formation, NOx emissions increase the risk of respiratory disease in children.
