Positive Crankcase Ventilation

PCV

On all vehicles built since the late 1960s, the Crankcase Ventilation Control System prevents crankcase vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. A regulated amount of vapor is introduced into the engine where it is burned. A key component in regulating this vapor is a PCV Valve or a PCV orifice.
