ECU & Module Programming — Import
Import ECU & Module Programming: Expert coding and flashing for Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia. We utilize OEM platforms like Toyota Techstream, Honda i-HDS, and Hyundai/Kia GDS for precise software updates. By appointment only for dedicated expert attention. Call now to schedule.
Import vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia use increasingly complex electronic control units (ECUs) and body control modules that manage engine calibration, transmission shift logic, hybrid battery management, keyless entry, immobilizer security, and advanced driver assistance systems. When a module fails or requires reprogramming after a repair, the vehicle needs manufacturer-level software tools — not aftermarket scan tools that can only read codes.
At Apex Automotive, David Jr. performs ECU coding, flashing, and software updates for import vehicles using J2534 Pass-Thru technology combined with OEM subscription platforms. For Toyota and Lexus, we utilize Techstream for diagnostics and reprogramming. For Honda and Acura, we access the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) and i-HDS. For Nissan and Infiniti, we use CONSULT-III Plus. For Hyundai and Kia, we work with GDS (Global Diagnostic System). These are the same platforms used at the dealership — the difference is you get appointment-only, dedicated attention from your personal mechanic.
Common scenarios requiring import ECU programming include replacement of a failed engine control module (ECM), transmission control module (TCM), or body control module (BCM). Software updates are frequently needed to resolve manufacturer-identified calibration issues — Toyota, for example, regularly releases TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) that require ECU reflashing to fix driveability complaints, emissions monitor setting issues, or transmission shift quality problems. Key programming and immobilizer registration are also common needs, particularly after replacing a lost key or a failed smart key module.
Many import vehicles now require online calibration — the replacement module must connect to the manufacturer's server to download its vehicle-specific software. This requires active OEM subscriptions and stable connectivity, both of which we maintain.
Apex Automotive is a diagnostic and repair facility — we do not administer, perform, or conduct emissions tests. After any ECU programming that affects emissions-related systems, we verify all readiness monitors return to READY status. By appointment only — call David Jr. at (480) 588-2250.
